My Study Room – A Cyberpunk Way

The weekend was what I’m looking forward to, especially at midnight, the busy hour of the day was finally lost in the darkness. Not a sound was heard. And I lost track of the time as I lost thought while I stared at the blank paper. Brush in hand, my mind was already filled with color and lines when the notes of the piano bounced out of the canvas.
每逢期待的是周末午夜，彼时忙碌的一天似乎在黑暗中终于彻彻底底的懈怠了下来。万籁静寂下，我望着空白的纸发呆，时间也似乎停止了挪动。提起画笔，在有限的画布空间中，随着钢琴的弹跳，脑海中早已是色彩斑斓、线条各异。

 

“The Warmth of Love” was a concept art that I painted last year, which was collected in the Chinese Yearbook of Illustration Art 2022. And I was honored to be awarded the “Chinese Illustration Art Award”. As an important document, the yearbook showed the current level of the artwork of Chinese great illustration artists. Having been carefully selected from numerous participants across China, only 70 illustration artists of their excellent artworks were collected in the yearbook with various styles of art, including commercial and children’s illustration, conceptual art, comics, etc. The yearbook was aimed to help promote the development of Chinese illustration art, which not only provided important study and reference research for domestic illustration but also had a certain collection value. It soon would be displayed in major art institutions, libraries, art galleries, etc.
《爱的温暖》是我去年创作的概念艺术，很荣幸这幅作品被入编《中国插画艺术年鉴2022》，个人荣获“中国插画艺术入编作品奖”。作为反映当前中国优秀插画师创作水平的重要文献资料，该年鉴从全国众多参与者中，层层选拔精心挑选后，收录了70多位插画师的优秀作品，涵盖了商业与儿童插画、概念设定、游戏原画、漫画等各类风格，旨在助力推动中国插画领域的发展，不仅为国内插画提供重要的学习与参考研究，也具有一定的纪念珍藏价值。未来可在各大文艺机构、图书馆、美术馆、画廊中欣赏这本年鉴。

 

We all know that Cyberpunk is kind of a dystopian futuristic world of highly advanced artificial intelligence and cybernetics, featuring a combination of lowlife and high tech. Usually, it was starkly juxtaposed with unique and exaggerated color aesthetics, especially the strong light and shadow that display the technological light or reflections. It was often mixed with black, red, yellow, blue, green, and purple, presenting a grandiose visual impact.
说起赛博朋克，大家或许并不陌生，在先进科学技术下，人工智能与低端生活的融合，演绎着一个高度人机文明的反乌托邦世界。其中非常具有特色的是一种独特而夸张的色彩美学，尤其是那强烈的光与影，无论是科技光感、折射倒影，往往以黑、红、黄、蓝、绿、紫进行搭配，呈现一种浮夸的视觉冲击。

 

CD PROJEKT RED, one of the famous game companies, offered us the chance to be an insider of the Cyberpunk world by presenting us with the visually stunning Cyberpunk 2077. I was very impressed by the design of high technology, architecture, vehicle design, UI, etc, in which the Night City had it all. Having completed all the missions, I still had a feeling of unsatisfied, as if I had enjoyed a cup of coffee the aftertaste came endless from the bitterness. Then, “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners”, a TV series animation, finally boosted our feelings to a new level. We all felt the same way about the moon and the two young lovers. Hope one day, we might end up with a wonderful ending — seeing the moon together.
而世界知名游戏公司之一CD PROJEKT RED向我们呈现了赛博朋克2077（Cyberpunk 2077），我们有幸可以在虚拟世界中感受这一未来的视觉盛宴。对于这一高科技、建筑、载具、UI等设计，我非常欣赏，夜之城画面设定也让我赞不绝口，通关后，还有一种意犹未尽，仿佛品味了一杯咖啡，苦涩之后回味无穷。加之延伸动画《赛博朋克：边缘行者（Cyberpunk: Edgerunners）》的点缀，让多少人感同身受，引起了共鸣，一轮圆月，二位年轻情侣。期望那天是一个美好的结局——一起去看月球。

 

The game and the animation triggered me to paint a cyberpunk concept art with a strong feeling of the urge as well. So, I intended to transform my study room in a cyberpunk way. I tried to get inspiration by observing the lights and shadows of the room at night. With the help of rainy nights and the help of light effects for my surroundings, including light strips, mouse and keyboard, monitor, etc., I could feel the changes between various materials of lights, shadows, and reflections.
通关了游戏，观看了这部动画剧，也让我产生了绘画一幅赛博朋克概念艺术的想法。于是乎，提笔开始创想，决定把我的书房进行一番改造。为了找感觉，我在氛围灯条、游戏鼠键、显示器等外设的围绕下，并常常在雨夜，观察现实环境中夜晚光与影的变化、各类材质光感反射的效果。

 

In my artwork, the almost 45° overlooking view presented my cyberpunk study room. I created a two stories room, the upper floor was a rest area, and the lower floor was a study room. My bedroom was pretty simple. I added the blue and greenish light line under the bed to create an illusion of suspension. The large vase on the left was filled with small trees and leaves. And the leaves grew taller that touched the head of the bed, implying the concept of nature-loving. High-tech light effects on both sides of the door highlighted the entrance. To save space in the room, the stair was replaced by a ladder that was wrapped in a blue light flexible screen and led to the lower floor where the study room was.
画作中我采用类似45°俯视角来诠释，打造上下二层的独立空间，上层为休息区，下层是工作室。卧室相对比较简约，底部加入光感，让床有着悬浮的错觉，左侧大型花瓶给予装饰，绿叶从花瓶中探出，触碰床头，暗含了崇尚自然的理念。右侧灯柱高亮了进户门的位置。为节约空间，楼梯改为直梯被蓝光的柔性屏包裹，直通下层工作室。

 

Now, let me take you to the study room. The first thing you saw was some large computer-driven pieces of equipment overlayed one by one to form the shape of stairs. A large screen of aquarium behind the equipment. Swimming fish, flying water grasses, floating bubbles, and the touch of the blue-shining light, eased your mood instantly. There’re bookshelves on both sides of the room. On the second level of the left shelf, there was a harmonica I played lied there. Under the light of the incandescent lamp, the harmonica was shining that showing my passion for music. The grid trim style on the right shelf matched the same decoration style in the bedroom on the left.
来到工作室，首先映入眼帘的是类似电脑驱动的大型设备错落叠加，呈现阶梯状。背后则是一块满屏的鱼缸，鱼儿游动、水草飘荡、气泡浮动，以及蓝色光让心情烦躁的你，可以瞬间安静下来。左右两侧为书柜，左侧书柜一格中我单独画了自己的布鲁斯口琴，在白炽灯的照耀下，侧面突出对音乐的爱好。右侧书柜上面栅格装饰与卧室的栅格装饰风格相统一。

 

On the right side of the aquarium was a poster of my WeChat sticker to memorize that my beloved dog passed away a long ago. I put my signature and the LOGO of “the Dream & the Moon”. There was an elaborate white ceramic bone ornament on a display table in front of the poster. A’Wang, my WeChat sticker character, opened his mouth as if he was trying to eat the bone, which’s to create a funny moment in the room. A high-tech lounge chair rested on top of the stair-like equipment that was illuminated by a lamp, which indirectly presented a visual center for the viewers. There was a key device controller on the ceiling to be used for video projection, connected to VR as entertainment, and linked with other devices as a power supply.
鱼缸右侧放了一张海报，通过我家已故爱犬“阿旺”表情包形象为题，以此作为纪念，上面有着我的签名和“梦与月”的LOGO。装饰桌上摆放了一个精美的骨头饰品，海报中的他张开嘴，仿佛要啃那根骨头，以此营造一种诙谐的气氛。一张科技躺椅坐落在大型设备上，台灯照射在上面，间接地作为视觉导向，呈现视觉重心。天花板上是一个主设备控制器，既能投影视频、又是供电装置和娱乐设施，连接着VR等设备。

 

The computer desk was placed in the right corner. The simple electronic screen projected from a holographic device on the desk showed my LOGO as the login page. There was a holographic colorful tree to feel the Spring in the room. In my early sketch, I intended to use the cartoon image of A’Wang emoji as the main character. I would paint him lying on the chair and reading a book, expressing a kind of visual effect of the combination of science fiction and animation. Later, I felt that it was not artistic enough to show my feelings, so I revised it after coloring.
电脑桌摆放在一角，简约的电子屏全息投影而出，以我的LOGO作为登录页面。前面是一棵全息投影树，绚丽色彩为工作室增添了几分春意盎然的气息。在早期草图中，我本想用“阿旺”表情包的卡通形象作为主角，躺在座椅上看书，来表达一种科幻+动漫的视觉效果，后来感觉不够有意境，遂在后期上色后，我进行了修改。

 

I drew two shapes on the top of the lounge chair to imitate the ears of animals to make it look a bit of cuteness, and it was a hidden surrounding sound device as well. To meet the ergonomics, the front of the seat was designed to be slightly tilted so that would be more comfortable to lie down, The lamp on the right I designed was an industrial and simple style. I made the lamp’s pedestal in the shape of the moon to fit with the concept of my brand name “梦与月（The Dreams & The Moon）”. And the connection of each bracket allowed the lamp to be adjusted from different angles.
躺椅上方我画了2个形状来模仿动物的耳朵，带来一种萌趣，同时也是环绕音响。座椅前方微微翘起，考虑了人体工程学，躺着会比较舒适。右侧的台灯我设计为工业简约风，底座是月亮的形状，与我的个人标志“梦与月”相辅相成，各支架的衔接，让台灯可满足多角度的照明。

 

I created two center points, one was my poster as the main visual center. The hidden character A’Wang was the protagonist of the painting. Another one was two dogs in the lounge chair where the light shone upon them. At the sub-visual center, “Fortune”, a black labrador, was sleeping sweetly while “Lang Lang”, a small dog that we rescued by the river, was awakened and stared at the front as if there was something disturbed his sleep. At the lower left of the study room, my signature was carved on the floor, which implied who was the owner of the room.
通过构图设计，产生了主视觉和次视觉的效果。主视觉为我的那张海报，隐藏的“阿旺”为主角，其次是在躺椅上的狗子们，他们是我如今的小可爱，一只黑色拉布拉多，一只河边拯救的田园犬。傻大个“多多”睡得香甜，而小机灵“浪浪”瞪大着双眼望着前方，仿佛有什么扰乱了他的安睡。左下方，我的签名以雕刻形式刻在了地板上，隐喻了书房的主人。

 

This artwork “My Study Room – A Cyberpunk Way” I’ve been working on had many elements and easter eggs to discover, which took me nearly 4 months to complete in my leisure time. Like my other concept artworks, the painting was a 4K resolution. Zoom in, and you could see all sorts of details. Above was the scene of dogs sleeping and the poster, which worked well as wallpaper for both my mobile phone and computer.
《书房里的赛博朋克》这幅画断断续续我画了将近有4个月，内含很多元素和彩蛋可挖掘。该作与我的其他概念艺术一样，依旧为4K分辨率，放大可欣赏各种细节。如上方，狗子们睡觉的场景和海报。作为我的手机与电脑壁纸也很不错。

When the Song “Moondance” from August Rush Meets With the Red Dead Redemption II

The apartment somehow was like an empty bottle, and when the night fell, I could see the movement of the nightfall. The darkness was as if the ink started to fill in every space of the apartment, room to room, corner to corner, and finally, it took away the emptiness, and left the silence all around the house.
夜幕降临的时候，整个公寓好似一个空瓶，我能感受到黑夜的悄然挪动，宛如墨汁般，在空间中逐步渗透于每一个房间、每一个角落，随后带走了虚无缥缈的一种空洞感，唯有寂静还在房间中游荡。

At that moment, somehow I felt a strong emotion, so strong that the emotion began to link with my memories as if I took a deep breath and then hold it. In the pitch black house, I hold the emotion for a while, not a sound was heard, but the pounding of my heart. Outside the window, it was getting clear and clear, and the moon cut out a silhouette of the curtain. Lying in bed, I saw the shadow of the curtain was moved as a gentle breeze pushed it. Then, I found a note that represented the feeling I’d been holding. I followed this with notes that compliment this feeling and reached for my harmonica to let the emotion out.
彼时，我能感受到有那么一种情感正在涌现，是如此地强烈，将我的记忆一一融入。黑夜吞噬的房间中，这一强烈的情感在我心中定格，仿佛我深呼一口气，并摒住了呼吸，万籁俱寂，只有我的心跳砰砰作响。窗外，月光的照耀下，正逐渐明朗，衬托出房间中窗帘的剪影。躺在床上，望着微风轻轻推动窗帘的影子，我顺手拿起口琴，跟着感觉，让那强烈的情感化为一个个音符，吹出心之曲。

MI(3), SOL(5), LA(6), and SI(7) were the music notes I usually play. By overbending, I played these notes with different musical tones, sometimes it was melodic, sometimes it was a vibrato like a violin, and sometimes I played the tune back and forth between the two notes. In the darkness of the room, the blues was pretty obvious. Usually, I played the harmonica SOLO. But this time, I invited my friend Susan, who is a guitar lover, to recreate the classic theme song “Moondance” from the movie “August Rush”. We tried to remake the song more original-like as well as expected to put our own style in it, including slow-wave and blues.
MI(3)、SOL(5)、LA(6)、SI(7)通常是我常用的音符，通过超吹和压音，呈现不同的音调，时而悠扬，时而犹如小提琴般的颤音，时而又在两者音符中来回吹奏，黑暗中，蓝调的感觉尤为明显。以往我的口琴均为独奏，这一次，我邀请了一位朋友Susan，作为吉他爱好者的她，共同演绎重现电影《八月迷情》的那段经典主题曲“Moondance”。我们不仅期望让歌曲还原度更高，也期望加入我们自己的慢摇和蓝调特色，于是乎，运用勾弦、推弦、滑音、颤音、移琴、提音等手法，不断的互相配合找到了合适的律动，让旋律有一种柔柔的弹性，又带有一丝抒情与慰藉之感。

Having been tried many many times, we finally found the perfect match with our musical instruments via various skills including pull-off, bending, slide, vibrato, switch holes, blow and draw, etc. And now the final version was completed and recorded. Then, with the help of the Red Dead Redemption II, a famous video game by Rockstar, I created the music video with the scenes of the WEST in the shooting perspective of the movie. And this “Moondance” had the melody with a soft elastic with a trace of emotion and the feeling of comfort. Let’s enjoy it and hope you like it.
在尝试了很久之后，终于完成，录下了我们满意的版本。随后，通过R星旗下的著名游戏《荒野大镖客2》，我以西部的场景让这首歌更为生动，模仿电影的拍摄视角，剪辑完成了这首“Moondance”的MV。接下来，让我们一起来欣赏下吧，期望你们喜欢。

Music and painting are alike, I thought. As both parts of the ART, somehow they connected with each other, which invokes feelings in the deep of your heart. The melody offers an ability to hear while the drawing gives a capacity to see. As the music and the painting collides, the expression of emotion could boost your feelings. And that was ART, I guess.
我以为音乐和绘画有着一丝共性，作为艺术的一部分，两者又有着彼此的联系，都能唤醒你内心深处的情感。听觉，让你能感受优美的旋律，而视觉，则让你去感知色彩斑斓的绘画。当音乐和绘画互相触碰的时候，共鸣之情油然而生，这或许就是艺术吧。

He who is reading my article now, at this moment, my poem and the painting may open the unspoken feelings of himself. MAY is the dawning of love for the spring.
此时此刻，我这首诗与我这幅画，或许能让正在阅读的你，打开那些未曾诉说的情愫。5月，一个情窦初开的春天。

Pen in my hand, I stopped writing. Instead, I took a deep breath, then slowly breathed out. The night crept in and started to devour rooms one by one. “If there were memories of roses in the time, then music will be the whispering love words of the flowers”, I thought, wiping my harmonica, “And, I’ve lost the track of time.” By night, I played the French love song “Ne Me Quitte Pas (Don’t leave me)”, and turned it into the blues tunes, as if the roses were telling their hidden feelings that had never been burst into bloom before.
停笔，我深吸了一个口气，缓慢的吐出。望着黑夜慢慢吞噬整个儿房间。“若时间里有着玫瑰的回忆，音乐就是那呢喃的花语。”我擦拭着口琴，心想：“而我早已忘记了时间。”借着黑夜，我吹起了布鲁斯口琴，让这首法国情歌《Ne Me Quitte Pas（不要离我而去）》化为蓝调，吐露玫瑰不曾绽放过的幽情。

When the last note skipped off into the night, my poetry, my painting, and my music might boost your feelings. That kind of sentimental feeling was more than a thousand words. Apart from these expressions, in the internet world, we had emoticons as well. Probably, from the other side of the phone, you were sharing your emotions and conveying your young love via emojis.
当最后一个音符跳跃着消失在了黑夜，我的诗歌、绘画和音乐或许能让你感同身受。彼时这种情感交流胜过千言万语，除了这些表达方式，在互联网的世界中，我们还有表情符号。或许在手机那一端的你，正通过表情包分享着情感，传达着青涩的爱意。

 

In Shanghai, we are still in the epidemic prevention lockdown, being forced to “BE SEALED” at home, we got all kinds of emotions coming together, including boredom, happiness, craziness, unease, and pain. While emoticons interpreted those various feelings in a great and fun way. Every day, we picked up our phones and surfed in the digital world, chatting with each other with emojis and stickers. At that time, their responses were as if they were close to you, sharing their thoughts and revealing their emotions. Sometimes, even for shyness, who might have no idea what to say with hesitation, an emoji could break the ice and bring the closeness between them. Perhaps this was one of the reasons why emojis enjoyed great popularity around the world.

在上海的我们仍处于封控阶段，被迫“封印”在家中，是无聊、开心、疯狂，还是难受，亦或痛苦，种种的情绪相拥而来，表情符号便能把各种各样的感觉很好地加以诠释。每一天，我们都会拿起手机在数字世界里畅游，看到对方回复的表情，仿佛TA就在一旁，分享着TA的想法，流露出TA的情感。有时，又因害羞，犹犹豫豫，不知说什么，一个表情便能破冰，拉近彼此的距离。或许这也是为何表情符号如此受欢迎的原因之一吧。

表情符号除了静态，还有动态，而动态则赋予表情更为生动化和形象化。正如下面这个小短片，一起先看下封印家中的“阿旺”是怎么度过他的一天吧：

The short video was created by one of my newly designed motion stickers. To match my scripts, a few stickers were selected. For the limitation of the 240×240 pixel uploading standard, it’s a pity that the video was not made in the HD version. My previous WeChat stickers package, or “The Daily life of A’Wang – Episode I” and “The Daily life of A’Wang – Episode II” were both created into static images. To fulfill my friends’ requests, I kicked it up a notch by designing a new prototype and making animation. Having been racking my brains for almost 3 months, from static image design to animated one, from creation to post-animation production, The Daily life of A’Wang – Episode III was completed.
我撰写了小剧本，将制作好的其中几个动态表情串联起来，赋予场景创作了该短片。由于240×240像素的表情标准限制，为此视频的清晰度有所影响。前两期，我的作品《阿旺的日常1》和《阿旺的日常2》均为静态版，在朋友们的呼吁下，我也开始了第三弹表情包的设计与制作，并进行了突破，由静态转为动态。从创作到后期动画制作，花费了我差不多3个月的时间完成。

To make a static image into animation was a killer. However, the animation-making principle seems not that difficult. Take our ancient trotting horse lamp. There is a series of paper cutting on the axle, the shadow of the paper cut projected on the screen of the lamp. As the candlelight generated the heat, the lamp starts rotating. Meanwhile, when you look at the paper-cut patterns, it looks like they are moving. Let’s trace back to the Silent Era for cartoons for example. At an early stage, it was completely made by hand drawing and was painted into various split footage and a number of drawbacks. Then one of the ancient methods was painting images onto plates of glass such as zoopraxiscope, which was pretty expensive and labor-intensive to paint the figures. With the rising of technology, computers have to make frame-by-frame animations easier. Animation is created by lots of digital drawing figures on the keyframes and then was lined up on a timeline to perform a series of motion actions. After the change of the computer era, CGI and motion capture technology has further improved the level of animation production.
第三弹表情包的难点在于静态转动态的制作，原理类似我们古代走马灯上的剪纸图案，随着烛光的热量带动灯转动，投射到灯周围的剪纸也跟着转动，视觉上便产生动感。追溯到早期的无声动画片，完全由手绘完成各类分镜头绘画创作，其中一个古老的方式将一个个动作分解并绘制到类似活动幻灯机的玻璃上，手绘非常的耗费人力，价格也高昂。随着科技的进步，计算机减轻了动画制作的痛苦，带来了逐帧动画，通过关键帧中分解动画动作帧，再将每个时间轴相互串联起来，成为一个完整的动画形式。之后时代的变迁，CGI和动作捕捉技术又进一步提升了动画制作的水准。

To meet the fast communication with the cute motion pictures on the internet-surfing, animated stickers and emoji could be created into 10 or 20-second-action, and then be exported to GIF format. At present, the emoticons still rely on the GIF format, which can be said that there is no GIF, and there may be no emoticons as well. Released in 1987, the Graphics Interchange Format, or GIF is a bitmap image format that has come into widespread usage on the World Wide Web for its unique features of presenting color images and simple animations as one. Like JPG, PNG, and other image formats, GIF wide support, and portability between applications and operating systems, which, it’s part of the internet. However, the GIF creator, Stephen E. Wilhite, passed away at the age of 74 from COVID-19 on the 23rd of this year, online media reported. Rest in Peace. Let’s take our hat off to the great scientist, may he would continue to create a unique digital art world in heaven.
动态表情包为满足网络的快速传播特性，允许制作10到20几秒的连贯动态并生成GIF，一个表情就这样完成了。目前表情包的呈现依赖于GIF格式，可以说没有GIF，或许也就没有表情包。GIF（Graphics Interchange Format）诞生于1987年，是一种公用的位图图像文件格式标准，以彩色图像和简单动画呈现，和JPG、PNG一样，是互联网中非常受欢迎的图片格式之一，应用于各大应用和操作系统中，是互联网的一部分。但令人惋惜的是，据外媒报道，GIF之父，即发明者Stephen E. Wilhite（斯蒂芬·威尔海特）因感染新冠于2022年3月初逝世，享年74岁。再此，愿逝者安息，愿这位伟大的科学家能在天堂继续创作与众不同的数字艺术世界。

As for sticker animation, it has various ways and tools to create it into motion. A type of frame-by-frame animation is an old-school method to do the trick. Traditional and effective, which means that all the actions are created by hand drawing, then be exported to GIF with the help of Microsoft PPT, Flash, Photoshop, etc. And, the animation can be done by professional software, including After Effect, OpenToonz, etc., as well. These animation or movie maker software could make the action look to be more smooth and more natural via skeleton feature, rendering, and 3D function. However, mastering that software is really complicated, which needs to boil the ocean to study and practice more often.
那么对于表情包的动画制作来说，工具和方式有多种多样，常见的方式为逐帧动画，即一个动作一个动作完全手绘静态图，再通过Microsoft PPT、Flash、Photoshop等软件合成后导出GIF动图格式。除此之外，也可运用例如AE、OpenToonz等专业动画、影视后期等软件，运用骨骼功能让神态、动作更为自然，加之贴图渲染和视角修正来完成，不过这些软件颇为深奥，想要达到好的效果，则需要更为深入的研究与实践。

For my stickers, I used the frame-by-frame animation through Illustrator and Photoshop mostly, and the support of PPT in a few actions. It’s a “No Pain, No Gain” situation because it was similar to cartoon making, which took lots of preparations, including scriptwriting, character design, split footage drawing, and funny or cute action selection that might likely be used by end-users. Then, a static emotion prototype was created before the frame-by-frame drawing of split footage for this static prototype. Take blinking action. The action was completed by two key actions that were followed by two static drawings, one for eyes opening and one for eyes closing. After putting the two static images together in order, setting the time axis to 2-3 frames, and hitting the PLAY button, a blinking action was all set.
在这儿，我主要以逐帧动画为主，使用了Illustrator和Photoshop，以及PPT少量为辅完成。但类似拍摄动画片一样，前期需要准备很多，即角本撰写、角色设计、分镜头绘画、创作角本的绘制，一个角色匹配哪个动态、哪一个场景是大家使用频率高的，且具有一定的有趣性，足以吸引人去使用它。随后，着手绘制静态原型场景设计，过渡到某一动态的分镜头逐帧动态绘画。以简单的眨眼为例，一睁一闭总共可分为2个动作，于是，绘制出2个动态，即睁眼和闭眼，在将两个静态图按顺序放一起，设置时间轴为2-3帧，便可组成连贯性的一组眨眼动画形式了。

To make the expression and movement in a more natural way, the relation between perspective and proportion of each movement needed to be considered. The whole act of Walking, for example, could be done with 10 keyframes from standing to the foot landing. While you were taking a walk, not only were your foot moving, your entire body was moving, including arm swings, shoulder shifting left to right, hip moving left to right as well. The more perspective and movement proportional relation you kept in mind, the movement you created would be looked more smoothly and coordinately. And that’s also one of the difficulties in making the character act more natural. It’s possible to complete the act of walking with 20 action keyframes or more. That’s why making animation really felt like testing your patience, which’s very challenging.
为了让表情和动作更为自然，需要考虑每一个动态的肢体透视和比例关系，例如走路，从站立起始到脚落地，中间一般可分为10个动作，除了脚的变化外，还得考虑整个身体的动态与透视比例，从手臂甩动、肩膀左右移动，到臀部动态透视等，这样整体视觉才能平衡与协调。这也是其中的一个难点，分解出的静态图越多，其动作连贯性就越自然，为此一个走路动态可能会分解出20甚至更多个动作关键帧。动画制作感觉就是一直在耐心的边缘试探着，很受挑战。

Taking an emoji for the wind blowing scenery. This one is pretty easy to understand, I guess. The motion picture above is the scene of my dog A’Wang enjoying the cool air from the electric fan, comfortable and joyful. In the dictionary of emoji and stickers, the wind blowing scenery has many meanings which could light the atmosphere of chatting. In different contexts, it could be read as speechless, the Cat Caught the Tongue Situation, real messy, wild playing, craziness, ecstasy, etc. However, in my emoji, I took“Happiness comes the way the wind blows.” In this limited and framed space, only two key elements I chose, or an electric fan and the dog. Since the dog played the main role in the scenery, I kept the camera right on the character and showed a small part of the fan in the invisible camera lens. Then I started drawing. I drew some floating ribbons on the electric fan to display the airflow. According to my dog’s reaction in the real life, I imitated and exaggerated the wind blowing scenery in a cartoonish way, such as his mouth was open wide and his tongue was out, as well as, his eyes were closed while his ears were all back of his head for the blowing wind. After that, I draw the series of static pictures for continuous shooting footage required by the frame-by-frame animation. And I make static ones as keyframes in sequence on the time axis. Finally, a motion picture was created.
以一个吹风动态为例，选择这个表情主要相对简单，也容易理解。上方动图是我家狗子吹风纳凉的场景，安逸又享受。在表情包的字典里，吹风有着烘托聊天气氛的意义，在不同的语境下，有着无语、风中凌乱、欲言又止、玩疯、狂喜等含义。在我的场景里，我将其做了重构，呈现狗子吹风的欢快之感。在有限的空间内，我选取了2种关键元素，电风扇和狗子。机位正视角度，镜头内只呈现小部分电风扇，使其主视觉聚焦在狗子上。随后着手绘画场景，为了呈现风吹动的气流，我在电风扇上画了一些飘动的丝带。根据现实生活，模仿狗子吹风的动态，并加以卡通式的夸张手法，嘴巴放大，舌头吐出，耳朵被风吹得往后飘扬，闭着眼享受刮风的乐趣。最后绘制逐帧动画所需的连续分镜头静态图，加以重合，按顺序作为关键帧放入时间轴合成。一个动态的表情包就出炉了。

The third emoji pack is the same as the previous two, which were created with 24 motion stickers. Every emojis were carefully designed and created by me. For tough movements such as the state of feeling sleepy, the sadness, surprised expression, the touch of hugging, etc., I even rehearsed by myself as an actor to study the relationship between perspective and proportion further. Then, I copied my movements and expressions from it, drew each action scene, and constantly adjusted the keyframes and times in the timeline to let my character’s movements be looked more natural and visualized.
和前两部作品一样，依旧创作了24个表情，每个动态表情我都精心设计与绘制，难度大的动作，我会自我演练，从透视和动态关系中加以研究，并运用到角色上。如打瞌睡的状态、难受的情绪、惊讶的神情、抱抱的感觉等等，随后把各个动作场景绘画而出，并不断在时间轴中调试与增减合适的时间与帧数，使其更加自然和形象化。

Exclusive Interview of Arts | Representational and Abstract Art – In memory of Adrien Asselin

When we were young, we often spend whole day hours and hours playing. There’s no TIRED in our dictionary as if we were like a perpetual machine that we could have fun from morning till night. We were energetic, but occasionally we’d love to lie on the grass and look up at the sky, letting the imagination find us in the clouds. Time was passing by while we were arguing about the figures of clouds with friends. This cloud seemed like a fairyland while another one looked like an animal. We could lie there for a long time and enjoy the moment for real.
孩提时期，我们常常在玩乐中度过整整一天，仿佛是个永动的机器从早到晚还不觉得累，那时我们精力充沛，但在偶尔的闲暇之余躺在草丛间仰望天空，在变化莫测的云朵中寻觅着想象力，和身边的小伙伴们激烈的争论着这一朵像某种动物，那一朵又好似某个仙境，却也能让我们快乐的消磨时光。

When we were growing up as time went by, we probably were more eager to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, searching for our own inner peace and feeling the beauty of nature. When you were there and looked up at the same sky again, perhaps there’re only groups of birds, or the evening glow would make you stop for a while.
随着时光的慢慢挪动，逐渐成长的我们往往更多的是渴望逃离城市喧嚣，隐秘于幽静之中，去感受自然的美好，找寻属于自己的心之静。彼时，当你抬头仰望天空的时候，同一片天，或许唯有片片群鸟，亦或霞光能让你驻足许久。

We begin to feel the rhythm of life, to feel the colors of nature, to feel the warmth around us. We are more likely to enjoy happiness and relief from a spiritual level. Our imagination changes with it, sometimes it’s figurative, sometimes it’s abstract. And the ARTS let it all out incisively and vividly.
我们开始感受生命的韵律，感受自然的色彩，感受身边的温暖，享受精神层级的宽慰与愉悦。我们的想象力也随之变化，时而具象，时而抽象。而这一点，在艺术中呈现的较为淋漓尽致。

Representational art creation is one of the important basic requirements of literary and artistic creation. Because it requires artists to be more sentimental and to feel the surroundings via their hearts. Then with the help of their abstract minds, their imaginations involve emotions. They turn the memories of some objects and sceneries into the embodiment of artistic image in every little bit.
艺术创作中，具象往往是文学艺术创作的重要基本要求之一，艺术创作者通过生活中不断用心体会产生的情感，在抽象思维的辅助下，加之情感和想象力的相互作用，将记忆中某一事、物、景，一点一滴的具体化，酝酿浓缩后的艺术形象。

Take painting which aims to depict the physical appearance of things in general. It is different from photography on some level. You may press the shutter to copy a breathtaking view in seconds. However, painting is a process of rethinking, recreating, and representing the feelings from the depths of an artist’s heart, I think. My latest artwork “The Warmth of Love”, for example, expressed my nostalgia and love for the loss of my dog. I put his scattered joyful memories with us together and turned them into the painting elements through emotions and love feelings. Having been racked my mind, I created a work that integrated color, perspective, composition, scene, and imagination.
艺术绘画亦是如此，一般来说与摄影有一定的区别，更多的不是轻按快门，就完美复刻了眼前景象的过程。我个人觉得，是一种重构、重新思考、再创造后，来表达创作者内心情感和所思所想的一个艺术创作过程。正如我的这幅新作《爱的温暖》，我将生活中多个与爱宠的美好回忆拼凑在一起，运用宠物之爱的浓郁情感，以色彩、视角、构图、景象、想象力等相融合，思维加工后绘画而出的作品，寄托了我对于爱犬的思念之情。

Contrasted with representational art. The abstract is to simplify the realistic, definite, and simulative art form in the mind of the artists, in which to remove or retain some essential elements and features in the same painting. For depicting nature, we usually outline the flowers, animals, plants, landscapes, etc. with painting skills and techniques including light and shadow, color and composition to create a realistic or hyper-realistic and concept art, such as my artwork “A Secret Place to Fall”.
我们再来看看什么是抽象？从字面意义上理解，抽象是具象的反义词，应用于艺术则是把艺术创作者脑海中具体的、写实的、拟真的形象进一步化繁为简，舍去一些元素，摄取或保留一些实质的元素和特点。如描绘自然，我们常见的是一笔一划勾勒眼前的花卉、动植物、风景等，通过光影、色彩和构图等技巧，呈现出画家笔下的写实或未来概念化的场景作品，正如我的这幅作品《遗失的秘境》。

Then this realistic art could be refined by removing some visual details of nature, including plants, trees, rivers, etc. Instead, nature was decorated with shapes, geometric patterns, lines, colors, and other subjective elements to express the feelings for nature. The painting will be more like a shortsighted person who takes off his glass and look at things around him. You will see only colors and blurry shapes, lines, or images that be mixed together. At that time, the limitation of realistic and recognizable images is broken, and art is presented in a new form of artistic expression, which is abstract art.
紧接着我们再进一步细化，去除超现实的细节，不深入描述自然世界，而是以形状、几何图案、线条、颜色等主观方式来表达所思所想。这时候，犹如摘除了眼镜，呈现在你眼前的只有颜色和模糊的形状或色块，此时打破了艺术强调写实的、可认知的形象局限，以全新的艺术表现形式传达艺术，这就是抽象艺术。

In this article, I invited Adrien Asselin, a Canadian abstract and digital artist to explore more representational and abstract art. At an early age, one of his paintings, “LIBERATION”, was presented to the Royal Highness Princess Margriet of the Netherlands. Speaking six languages, he traveled around the world to find the meaning of himself and the art. Through his passion for art, Adrien was invited to be displayed one of his artworks in exhibitions or hold personal exhibitions for various times. In 2014, he visited Shanghang City, Fujian Province, China, which was his second time visiting China. Together with the local Association of Artists, Association of Photographers, and other local organizations, the Shanghang Federation of Literary & Art Circles held a three-day photography and art exhibition for him where he transferred his love of China into his art and offered western abstract concepts and photography to the locals. I was honored to be invited to join him as his accompanying interpreter and art adviser as well, trying to share the art culture of the East and the West with every art lover and student.
在本期，我邀请了加拿大抽象艺术家Adrien Asselin，一起深入探讨具象和抽象艺术。早年，他的其中一幅作品“LIBERATION”赠与了荷兰的玛格丽特公主殿下。会六国语言的他，凭借对艺术的热情，周游世界各地，多次受邀参加或举办画展，寻找自我和艺术的意义。又先后两次到访中国，其中一次是2014年拜访了中国福建上杭县，由该县文联、美术家协会、摄影家协会等多家当地单位共同为他举办了为期三天的个人摄影和艺术展。将他自己对于中国的热爱之情融入其中，为当地呈现了西方的抽象派理念。那时我也有幸受邀参加，作为他的陪同译员和艺术顾问，努力将东西方的艺术文化分享给每一位艺术爱好者和学生们。

All these years later, Adrien recalled that exhibition with lots of emotions: “There’s something in Southeastern China that particularly fascinated me, which’s why I came to Shanghang for the second time. During my daily stroll through the town, I got a chance to get in touch with the working class.” After a pause, he said with sparkles in her eyes, “I yearned to know who are those people of whom I daily and diligently took pictures so that I could capture their uncommon ability to daily honor their trade. They truly are worker bees; we are marveled by it as much as it is the only way they know.”
时隔多年，谈起那一次展览的时候，Adrien还是非常激动，眼里放着光彩：”中国的东南部总有着其特别之处让我深深着迷，这也是我第二次来到上杭的原因。散步于这座城镇间，久而久之，我接触到了这里的工薪阶层。”，停顿片刻，他说道：”我渴望去熟知、去了解他们。为此，我常常拍摄他们，期望能捕捉到日常生活里不同寻常的那一面，平凡中的不平凡。他们，是不折不扣地小蜜蜂。不仅因为勤劳，我们更为惊奇的是，也唯有这词形容他们再恰当不过了。”

“The curiosity and the sensitive awareness that guide me are translated in the artist wanting to immortalize these people with my camera. In their mere moves, rites, and traditional clothing unfading chromatic poetry is sprinkling. In their every glimpse, in the scintillating specks of their very soul, I also caught the pride that lies within them, despite the fact that I don’t speak Chinese at all.” He added.
“我拿起相机盼望着能用艺术的眼光去诠释、以摄影来悬若日月。他们的一个举止、一场习俗、一件传统服饰，单单这些却宛若一首诗歌耐人寻味、笔墨横姿。每一次的隐约闪现、每一次的点滴闪烁，在他们的灵魂深处，有这样一缕自豪、一丝骄傲，尽管中文我一窍不通，却仍能感受真切。”他继续补充道。

“Masters such as Siméon Chardin, Rembrandt, Vermeer, and the Dutch school of their time painted the working class in all its glamorous simplicity, using a chromatic spectrum that did render an exuberant and loyal blend of color and light. What is your expression of art?” I asked.
“早期，工薪阶层就已经是荷兰画派大师们笔下的刻画人物。如：法国的夏尔丹、荷兰的伦勃朗及维米尔。他们对于光线的写实运用，并与颜色的丰富混合，充分地描绘了普通民众的闲情逸致，以及他们的简单朴素。对于您来说，您的表现形式是什么样的？”我问道。

“Yes”, he nodded thoughtfully, “Enough with the wealthier class and its opulence; the artists were rolling the dice on renewing their art with then trivial yet authentic subjects. Such pure and sheer simplicity with elegant style is also what I pursue”, he said: “My coming back to their workplace, factory workshops and unloading ports, had most certainly convinced them of my genuine interest. I had to spontaneously capture the most poignant scenes during those busy and diligent people. Through these images, these surreal flashes, these poetic happenings, my purpose was to unveil the working class’s environment and to let their every move and their every smile glow in symbiotic sparkles.”
他若有所思的点了点头：”是的，那时上层社会与其繁荣昌盛的状态早已不再是画家们的创作题材，转而投身于真实存在的普通大众。这种极简素雅的风格也是我所追求的，我时常去拜访他们的工作场所、工厂车间、卸货港口，望着那些忙忙碌碌、勤勤恳恳地人们，我不由自主地去抓拍着我觉得最为深刻的场景。通过摄影、超现实主义的点滴闪现，以及颇有诗意的情景，我想将这些小人物们所处的工作环境展现给世人。”

“In today’s photography, retouching seems to be pretty normal. What do you think of this photo retouching?” I continued to ask. Pointing to one of his works from the camera, he said: “These pictures are nothing but a too-small sample of what I had the utmost privilege of witnessing. The effects are all-natural and genuine, as nothing has been touched up, no software was used for anything, no artificial distortion has been allowed; the light is that of the sun, of the lighting devices they use, and of the people themselves. Only zoom-ins and close-ups have sometimes occurred, so that everyone could have access to more intimate details that would have, otherwise, been part of a mere background. In the exhibition, for example, I could still remember seeing those women vigorously and relentlessly working construction and other heavy-duty imperatives almost always, at least in Canada, materialized by men and manhood. Because of this, I hope to restore the real scene, so that people could understand these photographs.”
“当今摄影，后期修图属于常态。对于这一现象，您怎么看？”我追问道。他指着他其中的一幅作品说道：”这些作品普普通通，拍摄的主光源为阳光，其周边光源则是拍摄对象的自身反光、环境色等补光。对于我来说，我展出的作品不会去修图或润色，禁止使用软件进行人为修饰。唯有调焦与快门有时需要手动微调，这样观赏者才能欣赏到微妙的细节变化，否则，仅仅只是画面的一块背景而已。例如在上杭展览，我仍能记得：女人们在建筑工地辛勤工作、极为卖力，甚至从事着重活累活，而这些工作至少在加拿大，往往都由男人或者成年的男性来完成。正因为如此，我更期望还原真实的场景，才能让人们意会这些摄影作品。”

“The purpose underlying this exhibit was to pay a tribute to a gigantic class, too often ignored and neglected by the media sphere, seemingly guided by sheer complete indifference, and by their own counterparts and fellow citizens. It was a great honor for me to have this opportunity to present them at an exhibition. They truly were the atoms in the realization of herculean tasks and projects such as buildings blooming like a perpetual sudden springtime in the Shanghang”, He continued:” I was only witnessing and trying to grasp what an astronomer was able to take in from the start; the latter was shooting, while the former was falling. The working class was humble. The people were noble and were all-worthy, who were subtly honored to be living.”
“非常荣幸，那时有机会可以举办展览，让我有幸以艺术的角度向世人歌颂这一阶层的民众。而他们又往往被媒体所忽略、所忽视，似乎由一种漠不关心的氛围引导着，也时常被他们自身和周边的人群所遗忘。他们，好比是现实生活中，庞大的建筑工程项目上的一颗铆钉，霎时渺小；又宛如上杭的初春，意外之中恒久远。”，他继续说道：”我曾试着去领会一名天文学家是如何观赏星空的？前者是遥望星星的坠落，而后者则是拿起相机拍摄它落下的过程，这恰似我抓拍那些普通民众的方式一样。谦逊者，小人物；崇高者，小人物；可敬者，亦小人物——平凡之中不平凡，点滴荣誉活当下。”

We smiled at each other and nodded knowingly. Following the subject, I asked, “Besides photography, abstract art is your favorite creations as well. However this kind of art is actually difficult for us to appreciate, coz there is no specific identifiable image, at first glance, it seems to be a disorderly, random painting with a pure accumulation of pigments and color blocks, I guess. So, would you mind explaining to us how you picture abstract art?”
说到这，我们相视一笑，彼此会意的点了点头。顺着话题，我问道：”除了摄影，您创作的还有抽象艺术。而这一艺术其实对于我们大众而言欣赏比较困难，因为没有了可辨别的具体形象，乍一眼仿佛没有章法，乱涂乱画，纯粹是一种颜料和色块的堆积。您能为我们讲解您理解的抽象艺术吗？”

As soon as the question was asked, he seemed to remember something and let me wait for a while before disappearing from the computer. A moment later, Adrien held a large abstract painting in front of me and explained, “This abstract painting was my first work, and I kept it well to encourage me to continue to explore the beauty of life and create the art of my life as if the god work.” Set at the computer, He put down the painting and continued: “Picasso and his arts had a great impact on me for a long time. He was a brilliant artist that I admired him so much and followed his painting style as a starter. In my childhood, I had lots of opportunities to reach nature. I used to sit on the mountain overlooking the town, the fields, and mountains, listening to birds and enjoying the fragrance of flowers. Gradually, the plains and valleys opened my mind and became my friends and great sources of inspiration. So, most of my early artworks were based on nature. I painted the shapes and structures of natural objects by overlapping bright colors and geometric elements with the feeling of awe for nature. In the end, those three-dimensions images were changed into graphic art. So, Abstract Art is the simplification of the images before my eyes, I think. It is an art form with an expression of stylization, simplification, conceptualization, and superposition that mix with your emotions, colors, shapes, lines, and geometric elements.”
话音刚落，似乎让他想起了什么，让我稍坐片刻，随后消失在电脑的另一头。过了一会，Adrien拿着一幅巨型抽象画，摆在我面前诠释道：”这一幅抽象画是我的处女作，我很好的保留了下来，以此激励我继续挖掘生活的美好，不断向上(上帝)创造自己身边的艺术作品。”，放下画，继续坐在电脑旁说道：”长久以来，我一直深受毕加索的画风影响，一直热爱着这位杰出的艺术家。小时候接触大自然的机会很多，常常坐在山上俯瞰大地，感受田野和山川，聆听鸟语，品味花香。渐渐的，平原和峡谷打开我的思绪，成了我的好友和灵感源泉。于是乎，早期的作品以大自然为主，不描绘眼前的景象，而是通过鲜明的色彩、几何元素层层叠加，空间转为平面，带着对自然的敬畏情绪，创作出自然物体的形体和结构。对我而言，抽象艺术是对眼前自然物象的简化，并带着一种情绪，以色彩、形体、线条、几何形式相互作用下的风格化、概念化、叠加或化繁为简的表现形式。”

“I learned from Picasso and tried to depict my surroundings, stories, and lives with different ways of artistic expression. I even changed the traditional paintings into digital art. However, my concept of abstract art is the same which to show the ideas and objects in front of us. Together with realism and abstraction, I applied beautiful colors to the objective images and added my inner emotions to them. The surface and the dimension became clear. It formed into a relationship, and into a kind of sense of space that’s involved in the abstract structural form.”
“正如毕加索一样，我也不断尝试着不同的艺术手法，去刻画我身边的事、物，甚至由传统转向数字化创作。但其抽象艺术理念是不变的，内心的情感来展现概念想法和眼前的物象。通过写实和抽象相结合，呈现面与体积的相互关系，铺上色彩把客观的具象物体本身引入绘画，再与抽象的结构形态相融合，形成一种空间感。”

“Indeed, when appreciating abstract paintings, it may be easier to understand them if you get the picture of the artist’s background first, and then try to feel the painting context with the help of the title of the work,” I said: “At that moment, colors of the painting may begin to flow, blurry shapes become more and more clear. Then your imagination and emotions start to play a part in it, where resonant expression will collide.”
“诚然，在欣赏抽象画的时候，得先了解艺术家作画的背景，然后结合作品标题，带着情绪去欣赏，或许更易于读懂。”，我说道：”这时，色彩或许开始流动起来，从模糊的形体中看到具象的身影，你的想象力和情感也开始发挥作用，共鸣将在此碰撞。”

“That’s right,” Adrien replied immediately: “Normally, painting skills and styles are not the keys to abstract art creation. It is the sentiment that does the work. To follow your hearts and your emotions when comes to appreciating and creating arts around you, even it’s sad or happy, or a warm feeling.”
“说的很对，”Adrien立刻接过话题回复道：”抽象艺术创作更多的不是你的创作手法和技巧，而是你要有情感，感性的去表达、去认知周边的物象，是快乐的，还是悲伤的，亦或给予你一种温暖的氛围，和其他艺术表现形式一样都需用心去细细品味。”

And that reminded me of the Rorschach test, a famous psychological test in which subjects’ perceptions of inkblots are recorded and then normally analyzed to examine a person’s personality characteristics and emotional functioning by using psychological interpretation or complex pareidolia. The latter is the pattern of objects, shapes, or other patterns of visual symbols that are related to a person’s sentimental feelings. Nowadays, since the scheduled urban life, it seems that there’s a psychological paradox between people and objects, and within people as well somehow. In which, when they failed to load off their shoulders or be comfortable in reality, they are more likely to unwind from the expressions of art, including music, literature, painting, etc. This may explain why the framed abstract works of art are displayed in many grand places, residences, hotels, etc. The abstract, as if the cloud in the sky, is unpredictable and be related to the viewer’s emotions. At a certain moment, perhaps, they find inner peace from abstract art.
此时，不经让我想起著名的罗夏墨迹测验，通过图版上抽象的墨渍来投射人格测试，被测者可说出具体的某物、或表达心情的喜怒哀乐等一切可联想到的视觉符号。如今的城市化生活，人与人之间、人与物象之间有着一种莫名的心理矛盾，当在现实中找寻不到慰藉和解压的时候，往往会转移到艺术形式中，在音乐、文学、绘画等里寻觅宁静。这或许就诠释了为何很多场所、住宅等，都会摆放装裱好的抽象艺术作品，模糊的形态，犹如变化莫测的云朵，观赏者的情绪感知眼前的作品，或许某一时刻，求得了一片心之静。

“And so, through countless walks, I witnessed the fieriest sunrises and sunsets. At night I lay down and gazed at the ocean of stars slowly revealing its quest as my mind would make its way through the darkness of silence. Out of these abstract scenes and colors, new paintings would translate my love for nature and the cosmos. I never attempted to copy what my eyes saw, knowing any camera could do that. No, I wanted to create, and to express the world that gave me such forms, energy, colors, and poetry,” He said with a smile at the end of the interview as if a summary of his whole life. It’s hard to persistent in doing something that you preferred and good at it in a field, especially when you actually achieved something during the journey of pursuing your big dream. Every one of us is special I think. Find out what’s special in yourself and make use of it to the utmost.
“走过无数的路，见证过太阳的初升和夕阳西下，最为动人的景象也有几时回。然而，夜晚当我躺下凝望星辰大海的时候，我的思绪也随着星空穿越宁静的黑夜，在银河系缓慢流动。彼时，抽象的物象在我脑海浮现，将我对自然的热爱和宇宙的倾心化作一幅幅画。虽然我深知相机可以复刻眼前的美景，但我想要创作，将我捕捉到的形态、能量、颜色、韵味去一一表达。”，采访最后，他微笑着道出了一番感言，宛如对于自己一生的概括。能在自己喜欢和擅长的领域持之以恒，去追逐梦想并有所成就实则不易。我们每一位是特别的，找到自己的特别之处，将它发挥到极致吧。

Pen in my hand that stopped in the air for a while, I tried to put the closure to my article, but my mind didn’t want to. As my article was about to be published, Adrien’s family informed me of the bad news. Adrien, the 82-year-old artist, had passed away of complications from his cancer on the 30th of October, 2021. And now, there had been another amazing artist in heaven. He who loved arts all his life and was always curious about his surroundings. He who had a warm and kind heart. He loved his family and friends, treating everyone around him kindly. At a certain moment, life or death has no end. It is written in another way, the lighting of our life. We’ll miss him more than words can say. Hope he continued to have his brushes and his colors, then he painted the paradise with radiance. Rest in peace.
而在文章的末尾，我提笔欲写，又不愿就此画上句号。文章即将发布之时，Adrien的家人告知了我这一噩耗，现年82岁的他，因癌症并发症于今年10月30日驾鹤西去。至此天堂又多了一位杰出的艺术家，一位一生热爱艺术，有着一颗温暖和善良的心，深爱家人和朋友，善待身边的每一位，对周边点滴始终充满好奇的他。某一时刻，生命没有终点，以另一种方式谱写着，点亮着我们的生活。对他的今昔之感，实则不能己于言也。愿逝者安息，在天国继续挥洒画笔，感受五彩缤纷。

I never thought that my art interview with my friend was the last exclusive time, and the video chat with him was the last time seeing each other as well. Indeed. It is unknown to all of us that what TOMORROW could bring us? Probably, to learn it from my friend, Adrien. Find out our gifts and do more of what makes us happy. Living in the present, and cherishing every beautiful moment with families and friends.
不曾想我对友人的艺术专访却成为了最后一次，和他的视频聊天，也成了最后一面。我们无从知晓，明天会带给我们什么？但或许可以像他那样，以自己的天赋，做自己喜欢的，并乐此不疲。活在当下，家庭亦或朋友，珍惜每一个美好瞬间。

Trapped at Home for Pandemic? How about Travel in Your Minds via Painting

When the night tip-toes and crawls on our hearts, when the clock strikes twelve, it has been on a daily basis of alternate the night and the day. Between the horizon of the sea and sky, the sun rises slowly in the east and sets quietly in the west as usual. At that moment, the clouds are getting misty and colorful while the morning or evening glow touches every corner of the earth. As if God has forgotten to close a door, letting the beauty escape from the crack. In which, it’s ready to spill out with the last existing magic to declare a beginning or an ending of the day. It’s warm and splendid.
每逢夜轻轻的爬上心头，钟声敲响12下，黑夜与白昼开始交替。不论是日出东方，还是夕阳西下，总会在海的那一端，缓缓升起，亦或悄然落下。彼时，云雾飘渺、色彩缤纷，霞光触及每一处角落。犹如上帝忘关了一扇门，美景瞬时溢出门缝，带着一丝温暖，一丝辉煌，仿佛向我们吐露着心扉，释放出最后的魔力，宣告着一天的开始，或者步入终结。

From sunrise to sunset, from the beginning to the ending, the day and night take the place by turn, again and again. So does life. A life is completed with birth and death. Somehow, no one will be able to experience a whole life from the beginning to the end truly. Usually, we come and go through the middle of life. However, it is the memories that connect us emotionally with those who passed away. Even they are gone, they may still compose life in a certain way.
从起点到末尾，而后又再一次重新开始，一天，一天这样的循环轮转。生命亦是如此，出生和死亡构成了一个完整的生命，或许，没有人能真正完整经历生命的自始自终，我们从中场走来，又从中场离去。而记忆将我们与离开的人们保持着某种情感的连接，即使是逝世，也在以某一种方式谱写着生命。

The first draft of this artwork was brewed in 2018. I never had the guts to finish the painting for the death of my dog ‘A’Wang’ last year. By chance, having been read the book ‘You Can Heal Your Heart’, I got enlightened from one of its sentences, saying “Loss offers a chance to rebuild your destiny in life”. So I picked up the pen once more, wishing he would be long live in my painting.
这幅画的初稿在2018年已逐步成型，去年因爱犬“阿旺”的去世，一直未有勇气再次提笔完成雏形。偶然的机会，读到一本《心的重建》，其“生命中的失去，就是重整命运的机会。”这句话很是启发。遂再次提笔，或许它在我的画中将得到永生。

I struggled for a while with the artwork scene-setting. Would it be a sunrise or a sunset? Considering our ancient meteorological proverb “No outdoor activities at sunrise while it will be ok to travel thousands of miles at sunset”, I went for the setting sun then. Because the evening glow often indicated that the rain would be stopped at the west, and the day would be cleared up soon, which implied a good life would be coming at a certain level. Turned over a new leaf, and everything would be fine.
对于场景设定，是日出还是日落，我纠结了一段时间。考虑到我们古人的气象谚语“朝霞不出门，晚霞行千里”，为此选择了落日余晖的画面场景。因为晚霞往往预示着西面将停止降雨，天就要转晴，一定层面上暗示了重新开始，美好即将到来，一切安好的心情寄托。

As the sun went down, the temperature tended to be more stable and the convection was reduced. And the sunlight got through the clouds more easily. At that moment, there were orange, gold, and red colors blended with each other in the sky. The sea was wonderfully calm as well, and now it was rich with all the color of the setting sun. It’s very visually appealing and the warmth rested on you with the sea sparkled. This warmth just like A’Wang, our loved dog, offered us the kind of passion, warmth, and easygoing that had a great impact on us. He who loved to explore each day of life, enchant every moment of life with full of curiosity.
而日落时分，气温趋于稳定，对流减少，阳光也容易透过云层，此时的颜色更为艳丽，橙色、金色、红色相互交融，大海也非常的安静，和煦的日光洒下海面，波光粼粼下，瞬间染成了暖色调，极具视觉的感染力和暖意。正如阿旺给予我们的那种热情、温暖与随和，非常具有影响力，充满好奇，探索生活的每一天，温存生活的每一刻。

The swans in the scene symbolized the same virtues as my dog, including loyalty, purity, kindness, courage, and nobility. As an Angel of Goodness, the group of swans rested on the sea. Some of them were catching fish and drinking water while some cygnets were snuggling up next to each other on the pen. And there were a couple embracing in the distance, enjoying their own world. From that, it indicated a warm and loving feeling to present the same feelings for my dog, the eternal love and mildness between A’Wang and us. In some way, it also intimated that he went to another dimension, a paradise of beauty to which he belonged.
场景中的天鹅群象征了忠诚、纯洁、善良、勇敢与高贵，同爱犬的品质相辅相成。拥有“美善天使”之称的天鹅，它们在海面上休憩，有的载着小宝宝沐浴在阳光下，有的喝水捕鱼，还有一对天鹅相互依存在远处享受着二人世界，传达了一种温馨和爱意之情，以此表达我们和爱犬之间永恒不变的爱，家庭间的温暖。也暗示了阿旺去了另一个维度，一个属于它倾心的美丽天堂。

My dog and I shared a boat, rowing through the group of swans, and moving ahead toward the corner of the sea. The travel conveyed that we lived in the present and would explore the unknown with no fear. To welcome the future with ambitions whether we were faced with a calm sea or the rage one along with strong wind and waves. For that, I painted it in FPV and added the mist to improve the reality of ambience and boost aestheticism.
划着小船与爱犬共同穿梭于天鹅群，往海之角游历，寓示着我们带有鸿鹄之志，迎接未来，是现在的风平浪静，还是过后的大风大浪，我们都无从知晓，但活在当下，勇于探索迎来的未知。而第一人称视角和海上的薄雾，则增强了临场感，强化了一种现场的唯美气息。

Almost three months later, I finally completed the artwork by picking up the scattered times at weekends. My artwork, “The Warmth of LOVE“, was another 4K resolution concept art, which was a great catch for home decorations, and a theme background for desktop and mobile phones. Since the epidemic, we have lost the chance to go traveling. I hope this painting will give us a yearning for a better life, and inspire us to go sightseeings, to feel the beauty around us, or around the world. Meanwhile, I prayed for each of us, wishing we all had a joyful life and a sense of well-being via fewer catastrophes and more happiness.
利用碎片化的时间，我断断续续画了有三个多月。我取名《爱的温暖》，该概念艺术作品依旧为4K画质，不论作为家中装饰画的摆设，还是电脑、手机等电子设备的主题壁纸都很是耐看。因为疫情，许久不能外出旅游的我们，期望这幅画能给予大家对于美好生活的向往，激发起外出看世界，感受美景的憧憬。同时为我们每一位祈福，少点灾难，多点幸福，人民安康。

The Charm for Weaving

Speaking of weaving, what comes to my mind are the rope ladder, bamboo raft, shelters, and other survival tools created by Bear Grylls, which has made from all kinds of wild plants. It can be seen that weaving is an essential craft technique with a long history and culture. Dating back to ancient times, mankind made woven cloth, daily necessities, and accessories with branches, leaves, and stems of plants by weaving-related tools or their hands. They even tied the knots to record and memorize all the things that matter. With the increasing development of the era, this skill has finally formed into one of the oldest handicrafts of human beings.
说起编织，浮现我脑海的是贝爷制作的绳梯、竹筏、庇护所等利用一切野外植物组织成型予以生存的工具。可见，它是一项非常重要的技能，具有着源远流长的历史文化。从远古时期的人类，利用工具或双手将植物的枝条、叶、茎等互相交错、钩连成型，组织成为衣物、日用品、饰品，再到古人的“结绳记事”，随着时代的变迁，最后孕育成为了一种人类最古老的手工艺之一。

From now on, this craft technique is everywhere. Many woven handicrafts can be found in our daily life, especially in my grandmother’s home, or Xinchang Ancient Town, I think. Take straw sandals, vegetable basketry, fruit baskets, dustpan, bamboo storage bins, flowerpot cover, sleeping handmade mats, straw hats, etc. Meanwhile, weaving has helped modern home decoration take it up a notch. These woven handicrafts turn into some sort of handmade art decorations that bring nature to the home for their artistic characteristics filled with natural style in simplicity and naivety colors.
现在环顾四周，编织的手工艺品无处不在。尤其在我外婆家新场古镇更为习以为常。比如草鞋、菜篮、水果提篮、簸箕、储物竹筐、花盆套、卧席、草帽等等藏匿于生活起居的方方面面。又因在现代家居装饰之中，独具自然朴素、色泽简洁、造型大方的艺术特色，转化为了一种亲近大自然的手工艺术装饰品。

Except for weaving, knitting and felting are some of the common Textiles Arts as well. I used to interview a Japanese artist Terumi Ohta for her stunningly realistic handmade wool felt animals. Feel free to review my previous article if you are interested. In this article, I’d love to share some beautiful woven handicrafts made by Nancy Zheng, a weaving enthusiast. Her works are usually more of a modern style that based on characters or animals from films and animations, which woven into cute handmade dolls to meet the current personalized needs.
作为纺织艺术的其中之一，除了编织外，主要常见的还有针织和毛毡手工艺。此前，我曾采访过一位日本艺人Terumi Ohta，她的纯手工羊毛毡艺术可谓栩栩如生。感兴趣的童鞋欢迎回顾往期文章。那么在本期，我为大家带来了一位编织爱好者Nancy Zheng的手工编织工艺品，她的作品更多的为现代风格，即人物或动物卡通形象为主，编织成可爱的玩偶，以满足当下个性化的需求。

“As I was a child, I loved to knit sweaters like adults. My sisters and I each took two needles and a ball of wool to interlace it into shapes. In the university, I got the sparks from DIY Community, began by fooling around, and taught myself from basic-learning books to professional weaving videos. After that, I got on the non-stop journey of the master of weaving.” Nancy said, picking up a doll and handing it to me. “Weaving helps me unwind in my spare time after work. It’s very meditative that enables my thoughts and creative ideas to get into my mind. It wanders and follows my hearts till the work is born.” She continued.
“孩提时期，喜爱模仿大人织毛衣，我和姐妹几人各拿两根棒针和一团毛线，试着把毛线勾勒成型。到了大学，其手工社的加入彻底激发了DIY的乐趣。随后便一发不可收拾，从基础编制入门，到深度讲解视频，潜移默化的走上了编织的道路。编织让我工作后的闲暇之余放松心情，有助于冥想，将思绪和创造力在脑海中游荡，随后任由内心的感觉酝酿出想要表达的作品。” Nancy说着，拿起一旁的玩偶递给了我。

Admiring her work, I continued, “What do you know about weaving? What are the difficulties and challenges?” Tracing the doll through her fingers, Nancy explained:” Weaving is a kind of recombination for three-dimensional elements, which’s beyond composition, I think. It turns the existing raw materials into simple ones and transforms the 2D into 3D. Such as sculpture and pottery, which create three-dimensional artworks. However, how to handmade a doll with milk cotton, and make it look like it has a soul, is really a killer. Especially the facial features of a doll. As for woven crafts, weaving needles and crochet hooks are the two main tools. The needle is used for making clothes and hats while the crochet hook is applied to create more detailed work, like a doll. The completion of a work is often a mixture of multiple stitches skills, including double cast-on, interlocking, double knits, purl knit, warp knit, I-cord, garter stitch, interloping, plain stitch, pick-up-and-knit, needle dropping, yarn over, etc.”
欣赏着她的作品，我继续问道：”以你的理解，何为编织？它的难点和挑战的地方是什么？“ 抚摸着手中的玩偶，Nancy诠释：”个人觉得编织是一种超越构图的三维空间元素的重组，将现有原材料化繁为简，平面到立体的成型过程。有点像是雕塑和陶艺，创造三维立体的作品。然而，如何用手中的毛线，相互交错创造出有血有肉的玩偶，尤其五官要让其变得传神，则是一大难点。棒针和钩针是编织手工艺中主要运用的两种工具，棒针一般用来织衣服和帽子。玩偶类我常用的是钩针，其中包括短针、中长针、长针、锁针、引拔针、空针等编织工具。一件作品的完成，往往是多种针法混合。“

“For weaving a doll, I usually picked out a character I loved the most in a movie or animation at first. Then I put lots of thoughts into the early conception by fooling around with milk cotton to make shapes. Once the design plan was created, I’d go to the materials collecting part, including yarn color, yarn thickness, textures, and suitable weaving tools. After that, I started to weave with great patience and perseverance, because you had to take out the stitches you weaved again and again until the satisfying work was finally done.” Nancy continued.
”对于玩偶的制作，除了挑选出个人喜欢的某个电影、动漫中的人物或者动物外，前期的构思也是需要非常的严谨，通过毛线一根一根的反复揣摩，画出图解。然后搜集与罗列出所需的创作材料，如毛线颜色、粗细、材质和合适的编织工具。最后才真正步入主题，而这一编织过程需要有极大的耐心和毅力，因为很多时候，你可能会织好了又拆线的情况，而这种情形将会是反反复复一直到勾勒出最终满意的作品。“ Nancy继续说道。

“From prototype to completion, it normally takes pretty long enough to form into a handwoven artifact. It involves hours of hours thinking about the complexity of the color, size, tools, and what kind of skills will apply to the work. For starters, I suggest they learn various basic stitches first and then try to go for an easy target for practice, such as a doll with simple color and figure. Once the beginners get the hands-on basic woven handicrafts, they could move on to difficult ones to boost their skills.”, Nancy paused and added, “Weaving is a time-consuming creation process. Be calm and patient as well as be tender with work, you might weave something great, something will be delicate later.”
”一个手工编织工艺品的雏形到完稿，需要花费很长的时间来完成，尤其对于编织作品的颜色复杂度、成品的大小、工具的运用，以及技法等尤为考究。新手建议先学好各种基础针法，然后试着编织颜色单一、形态简易的玩偶来入门。随着编织的作品越来越多，技法熟能生巧后，便可慢慢的去编织更复杂的作品。”，Nancy顿了顿，补充道：“编织是一个耗时的过程，想要更好的完成作品，一定要静下心、耐心地去刻画细节，精雕细琢才能让手工编织工艺品栩栩如生。”

To my mind, weaving is a way of expression of art, which has a certain shared feature in design, photography, and painting. There’s a mixture of vision, touch, and feelings under a variety of dimensions that engages more senses into the artwork, which makes an artwork alive to boost the readers’ feelings. Or, weaving is a structural element that has beyond traditional composition. As the work is threaded on the needles, there’s variability in the tension that triggers distortion in the textile. It’s multifaceted.
依我看来，编织是艺术的表现方式一种，与设计、摄影、绘画又有着某一方面的共性，在多种维度下，融入了视觉、触觉等感官，以及情感的渗透，使之有魂，让读者产生共鸣；亦或，是一种超越了传统构图的结构元素，通过线与针相交融，实现织物张力的可变性。因为，它是包罗万象的。

Since the first appearance of my sticker “The Daily Life of A’Wang”, it has enjoyed great popularity in downloading and using. I really appreciated your supports and encouragement. In two months of usage, I found that these 24 stickers couldn’t fit the needs of diverse chatting. So in my spare time, I started to create episode two for my sticker. I hid a gem from my previous article if you were heedful enough to notice it. There’s a sticker not belong to the Episode One that was a hint for Episode Two.​
继“阿旺的日常”表情包初次亮相以来，获得了很多童鞋的下载和使用，感谢大家的支持和鼓励。2个月的聊天使用过程中，我发现单单这24个表情还远远不够，为此闲暇之余，开始了第二弹的表情设计。细心的朋友们，或许可以发现我在上一期的文章中留了一个彩蛋，最后一幅图的表情在表情包里是没有的，而这一点也预示着可能会有第二部。

It named “The Daily Life of A’Wang | Episode Two”. Compared with my first sticker, the second one may be closer to daily expression. I thought about the frequent words that people usually chat, and combined the unique characteristics of my dog. Then together, they were transformed into another cute sticker in the end.
我将它命名为“阿旺的日常2”。相比处女作，第二部作品或许较为贴近生活用语，更多考虑了大家平时使用的高频词，再融合我爱犬那独一无二的特性，转换为了又一个萌萌的表情包。

My stickers were all designed out of the working hours, or at night. A sticker was born from two or three hours designing. The process of creation was really complicated, including concept brewing, a combination of each design element, analysis of perspective representation and dynamic figures, the ratio of exaggerated expression, etc. After that, retouch was a must before the sticker was ready to be used.
因上班工作原因，表情的创作都在晚上闲暇时候进行，一个表情从传达含义开始设想，到每个设计元素的组合，再到透视动态的分解，以及表情夸张到多大比例等等。最后再对角色进行润色和打磨，使其更加符合表情场景。​这一过程往往要精心创作2-3个小时之久，才逐步成型。

As shown in the image above, a sticker was composed of several anchor points, which was connected by Pen Tool and then outlined the figure step by step. I really encouraged you all to create your own artwork instead of copying. For the approval of being published on a sticker gallery, it usually had to wait for 10 working days. However, this time, it took only one day as my sticker was submitted. Probably because of the originality, I thought.
如上图所示，一个表情由多个描点组成，画笔工具一笔笔将各个描点相互连接，一步步将其勾勒描绘成型。在此，我极力鼓励大家想自行设计，就一定要原创。对于微信表情包的审核，虽是10个工作日，但我这次从提交到审核，却用了1天。或许，是因为原创，我的两部作品也均一次通过。

There’s an anther hidden gem in the sticker. After the hours of designing at 1:00 past midnight, I was totally worn-out. The last 24th sticker awaited my pen to fulfill the emptiness, but I was lost at that moment. I lay down on the bed, stretching out my arms and legs while looking at the ceiling. Then an idea came across my mind: “Why not an exhausted expression?”. That’s how the last one was created, which had made a funny closure for my sticker’s Episode Two, I thought.
这里我也藏了一个很深的彩蛋，现在分享一下。第24个表情，原本不知画什么，后来有次周末画到了凌晨1点多，身心疲惫。瘫倒在床上，伸展四肢看着天花板，就这么突然灵感找到了我：“为何不画劳累的场景呢？”。​于是乎，“累了”这一表情孕育而出。从而为这第二弹的表情包，画上了一个诙谐的句号。

WeChat Sticker | The Daily Life of A’ Wang

Emoji, one of the computer languages, is created to send lots of information in such small data. It has its own character encoding standard. This word was born in Japan, which’s used to be pictograph or emoticons for use in electronic messages and webpages.
作为电脑语言的一种，表情符号有着统一的字符编码，小巧的数据却蕴含着大量的信息。早期称之为绘画文字，源自日本，常以绘文字、表情或情绪的图案运用于电子信息和网页中，Emoji这词便由此而来。

Nowadays, emoji is everywhere. Even input method tools are embedded in emoji. Since the change of the digital era, emoji cannot meet the needs of diverse communication. That’s when sticker comes in. We all know that WeChat Sticker enjoys great popularity in China. Various stickers can be installed from the WeChat app freely. Users can design and upload their own creations as well, including static images or dynamic emoticons.
如今，人们在信息交流中，表情符号早已无处不在，甚至融入了输入法。随着数字化时代的演变，已满足不了多样化的沟通需求，于是乎表情包由此诞生。在国内，耳熟能详的莫过于微信表情包，用户可在手机端微信中下载各式各样的表情，也可自行设计上传静态或者动态表情。

Sticker is a killer for me that I normally afraid to design it. Because I draw digital arts for years, mainly creating realistic computer concept paintings. Cartoons and comics are really not my things. However, I decided to give it a shot when my beloved dog, A’ Wang, was passed away after he tried to save my father. The sticker of my dog’s emotions and expressions will be a memory for me, I think.
表情包对于我来说，一般不会轻易去尝试。因为一直以来，我以概念艺术绘画为主，创作出虚拟写实插画，卡通和漫画则是另一种范畴，是一个很大的挑战。然而，自从我家爱犬“阿旺”救主去世后，我坚定要给它来一套表情包，以此作为永久纪念。

Having glanced over each photo of its one by one, I lost in memories of its companionship with me. Grabbed the pen, I stared at the paper for hours. But the paper was still in the blank. I got nothing for months in the end. The draft drawings were still too realistic. Finally, I got another idea by turning the photo into illustration first. Then, sorted out some most characteristics it had, I simplified what was complicated in its profile. Such as my dog had a “Chuan” Chinese character on its forehead and some white fur landed on its chest. Its body was in golden yellow as the sunshade soft light on it while its tail was up in the air and twisted twice, for example. That’s how I created my first sticker.
指尖划过每一张照片，回忆着它陪伴在我身边的点点滴滴，提笔欲画，却最终还是白纸一张。几个月下来仍是毫无头绪，画出的稿件依旧是写实派。为此，我换了个理念，先将照片转化为插画，随后从插画中整理出最具特征的点，化繁为简。如我家爱犬的额头上有类似一个“川”字，胸口还有一些白毛，阳光下周身呈现金黄色，尾巴向上翻卷两圈等细节。最后创作出了第一个表情。

To make the character cuter and more fun to look at it, I created big eyes, short and slightly round body, and small hands and feet. I use a heart shape instead of the white fur during the design. After that, I got the sense and feeling of the character design. I put its expressions in daily life and what emojis that people usually love to use together, I created these 24 stickers eventually.
为了迎合当下可爱、有趣的形象，在设计过程中，我放大了它的眼睛；身子变矮，呈现微微的圆润状；手和脚也画的比较短小；胸口的白毛，则用爱心来代替。接下来的稿件也慢慢寻觅到了感觉，我将它日常的生活状态与当下人们常用的表情符号相融合，最后孕育了这24个表情。

My artwork is designed via Adobe Illustrator (i.e. Ai). Creating a sticker is similar to the character design in the video game. It requires a vast knowledge of some essential principles including body proportion, perspective representation, the relationship between bones and muscles when there’s a moment. Then, add various elements for the character, such as a change in the facial features, or in the shape of the arms and feet. After that, having a three-dimensional space view in mind for the character, I selected the best profile for my character. Take the profile in ¾ side view, top view, front view, etc. Finally, I enlarged or shortened a certain feature of the character to an appropriate ratio with exaggeration skills from the cartoons and comics. That’s how the sticker of my character was born.
我的作品是用adobe illustrator (Ai)设计的，创作表情包主角就类似于游戏的人物角色设计，不仅得了解人物的比例关系、透视关系，也需要熟知动作与骨骼和肌肉所带来的裙带关系。然后，在一个角色的表情中，添加不同的元素，可以是五官的改变，亦或手臂和脚的形态变化。随后在此基础上，脑海中勾勒角色的三维立体图找到最能体现该角色的角度，可以是¾侧面、顶视图、正面视图等。最后，通过卡通和漫画类的夸张手法，将某一特征或形态放大或放小到合适比例，该角色的表情形象就孕育而出了。

WeChat has a set of detailed designing and uploading regulations. Artist has to design 16 or 24 stickers album, or a single sticker, or special effect emoticons via adobe illustrator, photoshop or other design software. Artist requires to prepare different sizes of image pixel materials, including stickers, sticker thumbnails, sticker icon for chat dashboard on the app, banner for sticker homepage, and sticker cover. Once the design is exported to GIF and PNG files and is uploaded to the platform, it has to be examined and verified within 10 working days. If it goes well, the artist’s stickers were to be displayed on Sticker Gallery in WeChat officially.
表情包的制作，微信有着一套详细的设计和上传规范。运用Ai、PS等其他设计软件进行创作，需设计出16或者24个表情专辑，亦或单品，或特效表情。艺术家需提前准备好一系列多种像素大小的图片素材，包括表情主图、缩略图、聊天面板图标、详情页横幅和表情封面图。最后导出GIF和PNG格式上传到管理平台中，等待10个工作日内的审核结果。审核通过后，自行设计的作品便在表情商店正式上架。

Let me share the meaning of all those image materials. Take stickers. It is the 16 or 24 static sticker images or dynamic expressions you’ve designed. Thumbnails are small images for the stickers, which enables users to view freely at the chatting and to browse the sticker homepage. As for the sticker icon, it will be shown on the chat dashboard when the stickers were downloaded to your WeChat app, which helps users select stickers as they were chatting with each other. For sticker banner, it is an illustration with character in it that be placed on top of the sticker homepage in the gallery. And sticker cover is a representative sticker that appears on the sticker gallery where users and stickers were first met.
在此，我介绍下各图片素材的含义。表情主图，即设计的16或24个静态或者动态表情。缩略图是表情作品的小图，用于微信聊天和表情作品主页中表情包的查看。聊天面板图标指用户下载表情后，表情会呈现在聊天工具框的面板中，以便于用户聊天互动时选择表情。详情页横幅是用户点击表情包进入介绍主页后，整套表情上方的场景插图，通常角色具有故事性。而表情封面图，则是指在表情商店展示的代表图片，便于用户浏览各类表情时，有个直观的第一印象。

There Once were a Sparrow Took Human as Its Family

2020这一年很不寻常，各种灾难性的自然灾害接踵而来，大火、地震、洪涝、蝗灾、病毒席卷着整个地球。电影和游戏中的场景一一再现，地球到底是怎么了？我们无从知晓，但有一件事是肯定的，那就是全球大灾难的悲剧已为我们敲响警钟，好似当头一棒，把沉浸在自满中的我们彻底唤醒。
Wildfire, Earthquake, Flood, Locust Swarm, Pandemic, all kinds of natural disasters has invaded our earth. This year is 2020, a year seems to be destined course of life. These catastrophes were used to be dramatic scenes in some movies and video games, and now, we felt Déjà Vu. What’s actually happening to our planet? We have no ideas, but one thing is certain. The global tragedies have alert human to the danger of the future, as if hitting our head really hard, which shake us out of our complacency.

例如这次COVID-19疫情的肆虐，一定程度上呈现了人性的善与恶。从捕杀和吃野生动物，到贩卖假货和二手口罩、恶意抬高物价、趁火打劫小区架子上的快递，再到听信谣言怕被传染，将自家的宠物从窗外扔出去等等耸人听闻的事件此起彼伏。对于动物，似乎永远是一个弱势群体，仅仅是人类可有可无的玩物。然而，动物会保护人类而牺牲自己，反之人类会为动物而舍命相救吗？
Take Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In a way, it has revealed the good and evil in human nature. We’ve been through a lot while startling events kept coming up, including wild animals were hunt to eat, counterfeits and used gauze masks were made to resell, prices were fixed and forced up, and even personal parcels stood a chance being stolen from the communities’ specified delivery area. The most unpleasant things of all, rumors were everywhere. There’s one rumor that pets were easy to get infected, which some people believed it and threw their pets out of the window to avoid being contaminated. Animals seem to be a nonessential plaything for humans as if they are always in a disadvantaged group. However, animals will keep humans out of danger, even it’ll cost their lives; on the contrary, will humans do the same for the animals?

My following short stories might stir up the emotions from deep your heart.

1）惋惜 | There’s More Than Sorrow
在我父亲孩提时，救下了一只被多位小朋友抓着玩弄的小麻雀。经过精心照料，几个月后，腿伤已养好，却并未离开。我父亲只要回家吹口哨，小麻雀便迎上前来，戳戳他的鬓角和脸颊，在他的肩膀上扑腾着翅膀又是欢叫又是跳跃。
When my father was young, he rescued a house sparrow from some troubled kids. Having been taken good care of this small bird for several months, it’s leg was well recovered and decided to accompany him. The bird would fly onto my father’s shoulder as soon as he returned home from school every day, kissing his cheek while flapping and twittering.

在这个家，出炉的菜肴刚端上桌，第一个品尝的也是它。它会低空滑翔，稳稳地降落在美食边，跳起来刁起碗沿旁的菜，一抬头吞下肚。那一年正逢夏日，我父亲会捧着它在蚊帐里靠近蚊子，小家伙见状扑腾一下翅膀，脖子一伸一张嘴，蚊子就没了踪影。真可谓一个捉一个准。
Each time, there’s food coming up, the sparrow was the first one to taste it. It would fly low and land beside the dish, flapping and jumping up to get the food. It was Summer there, my father used to let it stand on his forefinger in the mosquito net. That little one ate the mosquito right way once my father got it near the bloody pest. It was a clean kill indeed.

由于鸟类有着随处排泄的习惯，我爷爷嫌它脏，终于有一天，一怒之下将它扔出了窗外。起初，它又飞了回来，而后，我爷爷关上窗，它碰了一鼻子灰。仿佛明白了什么，在窗户前徘徊了许久，飞走了，它的鸣叫淹没在了微风中。那一天我父亲放学回家，就再也没有见到它。此时此刻，我想他的内心是下着雨的。
However, there’s one of the bad habits for birds is pooping everywhere. One day, my grandfather finally had it enough, he threw it out of the window. At first, the sparrow flew back. It took the bird for a while to realized that it got deserted until it ran into the closed windowpane. The small one flew around the windowsill awhile, and flew away eventually, leaving it sad song disappeared in the breeze. That day, it was the last time my father saw his special friend as he returned home. I felt my father at that moment it might be raining heavily in his heart.

2）人性 | The Human Nature
早年，我奶奶家饲养着两只白鸭，白天散养，晚上它们会按时回家。一天，我爸撞见鸭子们蜷缩在一团，鸦雀无声。凑近发现，地上鸭毛凌乱，还夹杂着块状的碎泥土屑和点点血迹，门口还有零星散落的脚印。其中一只鸭子很痛苦地甩着头，只见它喙的下半截已被剪掉，血水蜿蜒而下，滴到了胸前的羽毛。失去舌头和半截喙的鸭子，根本没法饮食，痛苦又胆怯，最终活活饿死。而剩下一只鸭子则躲入鸭笼不敢外出，唯有闸门在风中，吱嘎吱嘎的作响。
My grandmother had two white ducks for years ago. The ducks always hunted in the daytime and got back home at night as punctual as the clock. But one day, my father found out that the ducks came home early and huddled together with silence. There were feathers and specks of dirt scattered around, which mixed with few bloodstains. Several footsteps were all over the doorway. One of the ducks was shaking its head painfully, and its blood was dripping from the beak down to the chest. The duck’s beak was cut into a half, its tongue was wiped out as well. Soon, it died of starvation and suffering, leaving its brother to be too frightened to go outside. Only the hutch door stood in the wind, squeaking again and again and again.

3）一片忠心 | Loyalty
我舅妈在参加一位远房亲戚的追悼会时，突然有一只狗从二楼纵身而下，在人们的一片惊呼中，像一片落叶般飘飘然，坠落到了地上。一声闷响过后，倒在了血泊之中。它原是那位远方亲戚的爱犬，老人家一生只有它为伴。平时几乎形影相随，外出逛街总爱带着它。或许，察觉到了主人的离世，他的爱犬伤心欲绝。
A long time ago, my aunt was at the memorial ceremony for my distant relative. All of a sudden, a dog jumped off the building as if a falling leave gently dropped from the second floor. Among the screaming crowd, it found peace in the pool of blood. It turned out that the dog belonged to the distant relative who lived alone for all these years. The owner and the dog had already built a strong companionship with each other. Wherever the owner went, the dog accompanied. The dog grieved at the sad news as it sensed the death of the owner probably.

据说，起初它狠命将脑袋往墙上撞。不知为何，最终却选择了纵身一跃，在天堂中继续陪伴它的主人。
It was said that the dog hit against the wall at first. But somehow, it plunged to its death at last. In a way to be with its owner once more in paradise.

4）守护天神 | Guardian Angel
那天下午，我父亲照例回到家，还没开门，我家的爱犬“阿旺”早已欢呼雀跃、急不可待的摇着尾巴，前爪激动地扒着门。品尝了一块零食后，整装待发准备出门散步。我爸推着自行车，它在身后贪婪地闻着各种味道，感受着自然的气息。走出小区门口，我父亲看了看两边的道路，走上了人行道。不知何处从左侧驶来一辆白色货车，然而，我父亲并没有发现。就在这一瞬间，阿旺突然急速狂奔，宛如闪电超越我父亲。“阿…”话音未落，我父亲看到它试图用娇小的身体挡住飞来横祸。可是那位司机却并未减速，我的爱犬卷入宽大的轮胎之下，发出一声沉闷的惨叫后，被货车巨大的力量拖着行驶了数米之远，此时，那司机还是没有刹车，却加速逃离了现场。唯有地上的血迹和轮胎印深深地融为了一体。
In the afternoon of that day, my father got back home as usual. A Wang, my beloved dog had already waggled its tail, touching the doorknob like a ton of bricks with excitement. After tasted its favorite snack, my dog was ready to go for a walk. My father pushed his bicycle while it followed and sniffed at nature everywhere. Looking at both sides of the road, my father crossed the street. Suddenly, a white truck came out of nowhere from the left side. My father failed to notice that. A wang sensed the danger, running in a flash. It overtook my father and tried to block the oncoming vehicle with its tiny body, leaving my father’s shout behind. Before its name cried out completely, my dog had already been swallowed by the truck. But the driver didn’t slow down, not even a bit. The truck’s huge tires ran over its body and pulled it for meters. With a little depressing sound came out of my dog, my special one died instantly. However, the driver still not stopped the truck. He hit and ran. The bloodstain and tire marks found each other, printing this tragedy deeply on the gravel ground.

正如灭霸的一个响指，生命在转瞬间，灰飞烟灭，是如此的脆弱。而留下的回忆和追思却如此的长久，挥之不去。今天和明天，永不知意外和惊喜哪个先来。阿旺是我们的守护天神，2岁半的它还是个孩子，却为自己的主人舍身相救。我对它的思念可谓朝朝暮暮，如今，埋葬它的地方早已长出了几株小花儿。透过茂密的树林，阳光径直洒于花瓣儿上，清晨的雨露瞬时向空中升华。彼时，我仿佛看到它就在那儿，摇着尾巴，朝我飞奔而来……
As if Thanos snapped the finger, almost all the lives were wiped out instantly. Life is so fragile. Living creatures were there in a moment ago, a few moments later they were gone to ashes, leaving us being haunted by memories and reminiscences for a long time. Misfortune or Pleasant Surprise cannot be predicted that which one will come first in the present or in the future. A Wang was my guardian angel who was only a two-year-old kid for a dog’s age, but it kept the owner from danger by risking its life. I yearn much toward my beloved dog. And now, there’re some small flowers thrive out of the earth where it was buried. The morning sun shone through the dense trees, covering soft lights upon petals while drops of dew were lifted up and disappeared in the air. At that moment, somehow I felt I saw my dog again, standing right there and wiggling tail, then running toward me…

或许此次自然灾难能够给予我们重新思考生活的真谛。活着到底是为了什么？生活与工作怎样才能真正的平衡之？都说人类是一个命运共同体，面对灾难我们共同努力抗击着，然而作为大自然的一部分，动植物却无辜承受着人类犯下的错误。是动物错了么？它们闯入了人类的社会，还是人类侵犯了它们的土地？正如我们身边的宠物，被人类带入自己的社会后，努力去适应人类的生活，安分守己，遵守着人类社会的约定和法则。然而，人类却为了追求自我需求的满足，不仅会违约、不遵守规章制度，甚至还会为了保全自己而做出难以想象的事。
Perhaps, this global catastrophes will let us rethink the meaning of life. Why we are alive? How to truly keep the balance between life and work? We all know that mankind is a community with a shared future. However, as part of nature, plants and animals are innocently undertook the mistakes made by the human. Are they wrong? Are they invade our society or we intrude on their land? Take our pets. They are brought into people’s society and to be part of their life by following their rules. But, human on the contrary, sometimes they break rules and regulations to pursue so-called self-satisfaction. And occasionally even they do something terrible to protect themselves.

面对自然的反击，我们其实是失败的。而如今能活着真好，或许在不同的维度间，生与死没有真正的界限，可以是一种行尸走肉的状态，也可以是一种能感受心脏跳动的意义、感知自然气息的状态。诚然，我们并不期望游戏和电影的情形真的会出现。面对世界末日，我们还有没有准备好。恰如，我翻译过的俄罗斯科幻小说《地铁2033》，以及我刨析过的游戏最后的生还者：《第一部》和《第二部》一样，那时你根本没有时间去思考，每一天都是为了生存、为了活下去，音乐、艺术和文化会越来越珍贵，而这自然美景也将成为一种奢望。那时生活何在？路又在何方？
These disasters as if they were counterattack of nature, and we were totally failed. Nowadays, it’s great that we are still breathing. Perhaps, in some dimensions, Dead or Alive has no actual boundary, which can be a way of dead man walking, or can be a way of feeling heartbeats and sensing nature as well. Indeed, we don’t want what happens in video games and movies will be encountered truly. For facing the apocalypse, we are not ready. Take Metro 2033, a post-apocalyptic science fiction novel I’ve translated, and The LAST OF US Part I & Part II, an action-adventure survival horror video game I’ve analyzed and explained. At that moment, you had less time for thinking, your everyday goal would be how to stay alive. Music, arts, and culture would be most precious that could be lost anytime, let alone the beauty of nature. Where would be this life go on? Where would this road lead to?

我们无从知晓，不过倒也不妨未雨绸缪，或许求生这一课题开始流行，譬如我之前为大家演示的打火石生火一样，我们可能真需要学习急救、医疗和野外求生的知识。最重要的还是——请好好爱惜自己、珍惜彼此，善待我们的地球，保护我们共同的家园。
One thing for sure, we could get one step ahead of being threatened by the unknown. Maybe survival will be the first one on the learning list just like the article I’ve written that I showed how to make a fire with flint. We have to get the knowledge of first aid, simple healthcare, and wildness survival skills. Most of all, to take good care of ourselves, to cherish each other, and to be kind with our earth – a HOME we both living in and need to be protected.

纸与笔总有那一份默契，停笔之余，黑夜早已悄悄渗入屋内，一间房间、一间房间的吞噬，偶尔窗外送来一阵微风，使得花瓣儿摇摇欲坠。手指拂过钢琴键，随意敲了敲黑白键，清澈的琴音在黑暗中弹跳着，随后小提琴牵引着双耳开始带有弹性的摇摆，逐步向屋内弥漫，略有一丝哀伤，略有一丝惋惜……
When the pen gets tired of dancing on the paper, the night has already crawled into the house, which is being devoured from a room to a room. There’s a gentle breeze that finds it’s a way through the window, touching the petals to be fallen at any minute. My hands fumble at the black and white keys of a piano. A Few clear notes bounce in the darkness while a violin comes in and starts to play. My ears are followed and swing from left to right. With a little sadness and a bit regret, the music spread out to the deep house…

What sparks my inspiration for conceptual art?

冬日的一天总是过得这么快，月光在玻璃窗上镀上了一层薄薄的淡黄色，不知不觉中黑夜悄悄地爬上了心头。一只猫在小巷的不远处嗥叫，好似向人们宣告这一天接近了尾声。屋内早已漆黑一片，我并打算开灯，任由黑暗贯穿整个角落。轻轻擦拭我的半音阶口琴，慢慢地放到唇边，先微微的小吹几个音符，浑厚的颤音瞬时在屋内飘飘然，而后隐秘于黑暗之中。
Daytime always found its way to meet with nighttime pretty soon in winter. As we knew it, the moon shaded a soft yellow light on the windowpane while a cat meowed in the distance of alley as if he was informing people that’d be the end of the day. As the night finally crept up my heart, the house was in the total dark already. I intended not to turn on the light, letting the darkness fill in every corner of the house. I wiped off the dust from my chromatic harmonica with care, slowly fumbling at the holes. A few musical notes for a starter vibrated from the reed, leaving no trail to be found in the darkness.

我顿了顿，闭上双眼，开始吹奏我的心之曲，内心深处也随着悠扬起伏的音符上下波动，任凭琴音在各个房间游走，彼时我早已不能自己，在时间与空间中迷失了方向。
On playing, I closed my eyes and paused for a moment. Then there came the music. My heart followed with my song, flowing gently high and low. And then, I lost the track of the time and space while the song of my heart was flying around the room to room.

我以为音乐可以打破时间的束缚、空间的界限、文化地域的不同，牵引着双耳直击听众的心灵。艺术亦是如此，无需多说什么，仅仅通过视觉的呈现、色彩的相互交融、场景的描绘，动静结合的手法、光与影的映衬，便能很好的碰撞读者的内心深处，产生共鸣。而我也非常荣幸，在近期的“Night Scenes Photo and Art Contest (Corel夜景摄影与艺术绘画国际比赛)”中获胜，我的绘画作品“Moonlight Shadow Night (月夜)”从众多的摄影和艺术作品中，在艺术绘画板块一栏荣登榜首。该比赛由全球前十的套装软件生产厂商，系知名数位多媒体应用之领导者Corel赞助，Corel Discovery Center主办，经过评审团从美感、构图、故事性、专业性等多方面评比而出。
Music might break the chain of time, the limitation of space and the difference of culture, leading the listeners’ ears to collide with their hearts. Arts might have the same impact as well, I thought. The visual images, the mixture of colors, the depiction of scenes, the dynamic and static drawing skills, the light and shadows, etc. Just enjoy, leaving nothing to say. The artwork speaks itself and reaches into the deep of your heart to boost your feelings. As for me, so did my artworks. And I was pretty honored that I was awarded a prize and one of my artworks, or “Moonlight Shadow Night” was a winner in art entry in the Night Scenes Photo and Art Contest hosted by Corel Discovery Center and sponsored by Corel Corporation. Among all the photos and artworks, the sponsor selected three winners from all eligible entries by their great sense of beauty, composition, storytelling and other professional skills.

我的2019年也因此画上了句号。现在我将这幅获奖作品呈现给大家，分享我的创作历程。这幅概念艺术绘画灵感来源于一部电影的背景乐，那天夜晚我刚看完《八月迷情》，被一首Moondance口琴独奏所深深吸引，于是乎，我开始扒歌，一个音符一个音符的比对，几个小时的拼凑，我成功学会并能吹奏出完整的背景乐。午夜时分，明月光辉下，我爬上天台背对着山吹起我的布鲁斯……
Because of this, my year of 2019 had marked with an amazing closure. And now I wanted to share my story of how I got the spark to create this award-winning artwork. The inspiration began with the movie “August Rush”, which’s had many great music tracks. One of the BGM was played with harmonica, or “Moondance”, and I was totally attracted to it. So I started to copy every tunes and notes of this track by listening to it for hours and hours. At midnight, I mastered this song and played at the rooftop as the moon revealed behind the cloud.

脑海中好似有一团迷雾飘忽不定，而后渐渐清晰，想象着自己在一个四面环水的岛上，就地取材筑造了一栋小屋，屋前的火光带来一丝丝的暖意，幽幽地湖水泛起阵阵波纹，映衬出小屋模糊的倒影。天空中的一轮明月，正如我在天台看到的样子，在繁星的点缀下尤为皎洁。整个夜晚被蒙上了一层蓝色调，“静”如止水。
There was a mist forming in my head, then all of sudden, it came clear. I imagined myself on an island where the lake lying around. I built a wooden villa while made a fire in front of the house. The fire brought warmth, offering the reflation of the house from the lake. Together with the stars in the sky, the moon shone as bright as the one above the rooftop, which covered the night in total blue. I felt the inner peace as if the still water, quiet and peaceful.

于是乎，我先为画布赋予了一层蓝色系，随后在视觉的黄金比例中勾勒出一栋木屋，画笔一遍又一遍的描绘其建筑结构。依据那夜晚天台上光与影的角度，深化了木屋细节线条的深浅，以及光与影的变化。
That’s why I painted the background in a blue hue. A wooden villa was put in the golden ratio of the visual sense that I outlined the detail of building structure for many times. According to the light angle radiated at that night, I darkened some lines of the house to enhance the changes of light and shadow.

接着绘画出木屋前的道路和火把，为了营造静态画面中的动感，我描绘了微风中舞动的火焰，偶尔有点点小火星随风飘落。然后进一步勾勒火光散发出的高光部分，调色以绘画出反射到木屋、道路上的光源，来呈现一种温暖感。而后我给天空挥洒了点点繁星，月光照亮了整片区域。月亮上的我正吹着布鲁斯，在黑夜沉沉中，好似坐在了夜的边缘，找寻着心之静。
Then I painted the pavement and a dancing fire to light the mood as if a gentle breeze searching for the warmth. Several sparks found their way to the gravel ground. I added the highlights of the fire, tinting the warm color on the door, bushes, and ground that around the fire. After that, the sky was filled with stars. A pure moon illuminated the night while I was playing the harmonica. I sat on the moon as if I sat at the edge of the night, looking for my inner peace.

最后，我绘画了湖水再一次强调“静”，微微的波纹在静态的画面中，捕获了细微的动感，其倒影又宛如一面镜子，映射了我的内心——独。随即，我的口琴乐飘然而入，跟随着小屋吐出的烟飘向远方，何去何从，永无止境。
I painted a lake and ripples to create trivial motions for the still image. The lake just like the mirror reflected my heart – Alone, I felt. That’s when my harmonica started to be played, capturing this loneliness that along with the smoke from the chimney. It flew away, far from the moon, where was it going, where was it flowing? One thing for certain, it never stopped.
